COMING SOON: Naked & Famous X Momotaro SkinnyGuy Ltd. Edition Jean

Our friend Bahzad over at Naked & Famous Denim sent us a great write-up authoured by Hypebeast about a limited edition run of new Fall 2010 denim. As quoted in the posting, the Canadian-based label:

“showcased their denim team-up with Kojima-based MOMOTARO. Produced in Okayama, Japan, the denim is made on old shuttle looms and the hems are done with a union special chain stitch, a lamb leather patch and MOMOTARO’s signature pink stitching are also featured…”

What’s even more interesting than the jeans themselves was the story that brand president Brandon Svarc told our buyers a few months back when he showed us the full Fall 2010 preview. The name MOMOTARO is actually a popular hero from Japanese folklore. The name is derived from the Japanese terms momo (meaning “peach”) and taro (meaning “eldest member of a family”). Momotaro is known as the “Peach Boy”, a child that arrived from heaven in a giant peach. If you look at the label pictured, you notice the same caricature used in the folk stories.

The MOMOTARO style jean from Naked & Famous will be available in a SkinnyGuy fit and will drop exclusively at our store on October 2010. Only 30 pairs will be offered in limited sizing.
