Hot & Fresh: April 23rd, 2012
23/AprHappy Monday! Today’s Hot & Fresh, we are featuring the “Bandeau”
OTR Staff Blog Post By: Monica Gould
“Bandeau (pl. bandeaux, diminutive of French bande, strip), a garment made of a strip of cloth.” (Wikipedia)
The Bandeau has become quite popular at Over the Rainbow as a tank top alternative worn underneath tops. It can be used to layer a top (fitted or loose), worn under a sheer blouse or paired with a scoop or deep v-neck. It comes in a variety of fabrics to accommodate your outfit of choice such as lace or basic cottom and almost any woman can wear it depending on your comfort level.
It’s easy to wear and can complete many outfits, check out a few suggestions with some of the styles we carry in store:
1. Free People Ladies Geo Stripe Top $46
The thicker cotton bandeau in works well with a loose top like the Velvet Ladies L/S Boxy Tee $65 paired with bohemian style layered Assorted NYC Orange Necklace $40. This gives you a casual, summer look that dresses up a basic black T-shirt with a touch of color.
2. Free People Ladies Lace Bandeau in Black $36
The lacy bandeau pairs nicely with the loose Chaser Slash Rocker Tee $60 and shows a bit on the side as a result of the arm holes being oversized. Paired with a cool, neon Assorted NYC necklace $25. It’s a great mix of edgy rock, with a touch of feminine details of the bandeau showing through. Perfect for a nice summer outdoor music festival!
3. Free People Ladies Lace Bandeau in White $36
Taking the same bandeau style in a different color, pairing it with a vibrant blue see-through top Olivaceous Boxy Top in Royal $85 and Yellow Bib Necklace $30, you can see how versatile a Bandeau can be. This look is a bit more dressed up, and appropriate for those who want a bit more coverage.
4. Free People Ladies Eyelet Crop Top in Black $59
This bustier crop top style has a bit more coverage than the others and can be worn on its own (if you are daring enough) or paired with a low-cut top like this fun printed Collective Concepts Sleeveless Top $79. Finish it off with simple jewelry so that the main focus is the decolletage, like this Navajo-style NYC necklace $25
